The Office for Public Guardian has announced a reduction in the fees for registering a lasting power of attorney or lasting power of attorney. This is good news for anyone wishing to put either a Health and Welfare LPA or Property and Financial Affairs LPA in place. The cost for each has dropped from £110 to £82 from 1st April 2017 - a saving of £112 for a couple who put both types in place.
We suggest that all our clients have a Property and Financial Affairs LPA in place at the very least (as well as a valid will). You don't need an LPA until you need one - but when you need one, it's too late to do one.
From 1 April 2017, the fees for applying to register lasting powers of attorney (LPA) and enduring powers of attorney (EPA) reduce from £110 to £82, with the fee for resubmitting an LPA for registration reducing from £55 to £41
