Microsoft has done what only two other firms in history have done - reached a company value of $1trillion.
They have certainly come a long way since MS-DOS was replaced by Windows 3.1.
The debate used to be Apple or Microsoft (mac or pc) but that was always a massive simplification. A bit like Blur or Oasis from the mid 90s.
Microsoft has seen its stock market value top $1 trillion (£774bn) after reporting better-than-expected sales and profits. The US software giant passed the mark briefly on Thursday, before its share price fell back.
